Latin Grammy Award®-nominated Puerto Rican rapper, singer and composer Rauw Alejandro is among the new generation of Puerto Rican urban singers with his exposure to the unique blend of dancehall, reggae and hip-hop. Exposed by a variety of music since childhood, his father, Raúl Ocasio, a guitarist and his mother, María Nelly Ruiz, a backing vocalist, introduced him to musical influences such as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Chris Brown. In 2014, after an unsuccessful pursuit in the Premier Development League, a semi-professional development soccer league and injury, he began focusing on his musical career and published songs through SoundCloud. In November 2016, he released his debut mixtape titled "Punto de Equilibrio" ("Breakeven"). In January 2017, he signed with the independent record label Duars Entertainment releasing his first single "Toda," with Alex Rose. The single peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts in November 2018 and the video amassed over 1 billion views on YouTube. That same year, he was chosen by Sony Music Latin to be part of Los Próximos, a musical project in which the label sought to enlist new musical talent.     

Alejandro released his debut album "Afrodisíaco," in November 2020, featuring big-name reggaeton and hip-hop artists including Anuel AA, Farruko, Wisin & Yandel and Zion y Lennox. The album peaked at number three on the Billboard U.S. Top Latin chart and he earned his first Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. His second album "Vice Versa," released in June 2021, reveals his versatility as an artist exchanging his Latin R&B to electro-pop funk. The sophomore album peaked at number one on the Billboard U.S. Top Latin Albums chart and earning two Latin Grammy nominations for "Todo de Ti" for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
